Nautel was named Exporter of the Year at the Halifax Business Awards. Nautel’s worldwide reputation for building innovative products backed by outstanding support was a key factor in the company taking out top honours at this year’s event.
During an interview prior to the Awards ceremony, President and CEO Kevin Rodgers commented: “We take pride in knowing that all over the world, from small communities in the US to major cities in countries on every continent (except Antarctica!), people are being entertained and informed by local stations broadcasting on Nautel transmitters. We also take great pride in tackling challenging deployments such as our massive country-wide rollout in India to our new project in Hungary of a transmitter that is one of the most powerful in the world”.
In response to a question about the most enjoyable part of working with international markets, Kevin went on to say: “I think it’s the diversity of customers, cultures, technical challenges, relationships, and the excitement of solving tough technical problems. We enjoy a rare opportunity to build high tech products by the ocean in beautiful St. Margaret’s Bay and interact with people all over the world. It’s a fun sand-box to play in; at just over 200 employees we are small enough that our employees get to make a real difference in what we do and we’re large enough that we get to do cutting edge, world class design, manufacturing and marketing.”
Founded in in 1969 by Dennis Covill, Nautel’s sells in 177 countries and has other manufacturing operations in Maine and Ontario.
Spokesperson John Whyte told the Chronicle Herald that 2016 had been a great year for Nautel. “Our ‘building to a billion’ project saw us deploy 27 very large transmitters to broadcast to nearly one billion listeners in India, while our ‘building the biggest’ project will see Nautel install the world’s most powerful transmitter in Hungary to reach listeners as far away as Ireland and Malaysia,” he said.
